Kate's Game

My wife is an incredibly deep well of movie trivia. She's asked me enough times "give me two actors" to see how few connections she could get from one to the other (Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, but with defined endpoints and playing for lowest score), that one day I felt the gears turning in the part of my brain that just makes games out of situations I find myself in or tiny kernels of concepts I briefly think about...

A few minutes later, here's the concept I spun out: a cruel puzzle for film trivia aficionados. And with this newly-polished version, it's a worksheet you can print off and busy yourself or your nearest film buff with for an indeterminate amount of time!

In Kate's Game, you'll be challenging yourself to complete increasingly difficult multi-layered connections between film actors and the production people that make the films possible (henceforth known as "film folks"). With each increasing level, you're having to add in an additional person... as well as a connection between them and each of the other nodes.

Level 0 is 2 film folks and 1 film...
Level 1 is 3 film folks and 3 films...
Level 2 is 4 film folks and 6 films...
And the admittedly bonkers Level 3 is 5 film folks and 10 films

Each level is its own puzzle, it isn’t a continuation of the previous… though I suppose it could be, too! The intent of the project (developed while driving shotgun in our family van) was to give my wife a silly puzzle to turn over in her mind while driving long distances, so now you can busy your mind trying to formulate tenuous connections between any number of "film folks" your heart desires.
