Morning Phase

This game was inspired by the Record Collection 2K21 Jam, where the aim is to create TTRPG experiences using our favorite records as major creative influences in the process and/or part of the end product. Beck's Morning Phase was and continues to be an incredibly important album in my life and over the years has been the soundtrack to a number of important decisions, time periods, and BIG MOODS (tm). 

Given my history with the music, I wanted to use the opportunity to make something meaningful that I could use myself when I feel that nondescript longing for things that have come to pass. What I came up with is this solo game of "nostalgia cartography" wherein I present instructions to embark on thirteen prompts, each tied to a track on Morning Phase (and intended to be completed whilst listening to the album). These prompts will guide you in mapping out the details of a certain period of time in your life as well as the interactions between those details.

Some things will be happy to return to, some may not. Some of these interactions may be things you've noticed before, some may not. Hopefully all will coalesce into a nostalgic landscape that you can interact with, appreciate, and let go into memory.

PS - 

For as many enjoyable periods of time that you can remember, you can play this game for each of them. I'd probably space them out a bit and absolutely do your best not to read ahead on future play throughs (lest you start preparing answers to what should otherwise be emergent). But don't take my word on it here, the rules go through all that; as the man says himself, "time will wait for you."
